Volkert Doeksen
Volkert Doeksen is a Partner and Co-Founder of GP House. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Volkert was Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AlpInvest Partners, today part of The Carlyle Group. Volkert served for over 15 years as Chairman of AlpInvest’s Investment Committee. AlpInvest is today one of the largest private markets investment managers globally, with over USD 65 billion of assets under management.
Additionally, Volkert is member of the Board of Koninklijke Doeksen, Nouryon and Nobian in The Netherlands. He also serves as Board Member of Athora (Bermuda), RedBall Acquisition Corp. (USA) and EBAC (USA).
Prior to founding AlpInvest, Volkert was a Director at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson (“DKB”), today part of Commerzbank. From 1992 to 1994, Volkert served as head of the bank’s Benelux operations, based in London. In 1994, he moved to New York as a partner in DKB’s private equity division.
From 1990 to 1992, Volkert was an investment banker at Dillon Readin London, focused on mergers and acquisitions. He began his career as a financial analyst in corporate finance at Morgan Stanley in London in 1987. He is a Dutch national.
Erik Thyssen
Erik Thyssen is a Partner and Co-Founder of GP House. He is Chairman of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Erik was a Co-Founder and Managing Director, global head of co-Investments at AlpInvest Partners, today part of The Carlyle Group. Erik focused on equity and mezzanine transactions in Europe and served for 20 years as a member of AlpInvest’s Investment Committee.
Additionally, Erik represented AlpInvest on the Boards of KP1, Keolis, Maxeda, Medic and Open Bet, among others.
Prior to AlpInvest, Erik was a member of the Executive Board of Fortis Bank Nederland, where he was responsible for commercial banking in the Benelux region. Previously, he was at Generale Bank in Brussels.
Erik received an M.A. in Law from the University of Antwerp and completed the CEDEP-INSEAD General Management Program. He is a Belgian national.
Maarten Vervoort
Maarten Vervoort is a Partner and Co-Founder of GP House. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Maarten was a Managing Director, global head of primary fund investments at AlpInvest Partners. He joined the firm at inception and served as a member of AlpInvest’s Investment and Operating Committees.
Additionally, Maarten represented AlpInvest on the Boards of numerous private equity funds, including Accel, Alpha, Bain Capital, CVC, Index Ventures, and Waterland, among others.
Maarten is the Chairman of the supervisory board of Gilde Equity Management ("GEM") and serves on the investment committee of the Graduate Entrepreneur Fund.
Maarten joined AlpInvest from PriceWaterhouseCoopers Management Consultants (“PwC”), where he was a senior management consultant in corporate strategy.
Maarten received an M.Sc. in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is a Dutch national.
Philip Viergutz
Philip Viergutz is a Partner at GP House. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Philip was previously a Partner in Zürich at Montana Capital Partners, an investment boutique focused on attractive niches of the private equity secondaries market.
Prior to Montana Capital Partners, Philip was a Managing Director in New York at AlpInvest Partners, the private equity primaries, secondaries and co-investments arm of The Carlyle Group. At AlpInvest, Philip was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing numerous private equity secondary investments in Europe and later leading fundraising activities in the Americas.
Philip previously worked in Boston at HarbourVest Partners, where he was responsible for private equity secondary investments in the Americas. Philip started his career in New York as an investment banker at Lazard, focused on mergers and acquisitions, and as an investment analyst at Brown Brothers Harriman, focused on equity and mezzanine investments.
Philip received a BSE in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA from INSEAD. He is an American, French, and Swiss national.
Alexandra Kaars Sijpesteijn
Alexandra Kaars Sijpesteijn is a Senior Associate at GP House.
Alexandra was previously a Senior Associate at AXECO, a corporate finance boutique in Amsterdam focused on M&A, Capital Structuring (both equity and debt) and Strategic Advisory. Although AXECO has a generalist industry coverage, Alexandra was primarily engaged in Industrials / Diversified Industries (Shipping, Waste Management, Construction, Infrastructure), FIG (Insurance, Fintech, Specialty Finance), Technology (Software, Platforms, Information Services, Media) and Consumer (Consumer Products, Supermarkets).
Prior to AXECO, Alexandra was an Associate at Houlihan Lokey in London, in the Data, Analytics and Software team.
Alexandra holds a B.Sc in Finance and Management from the London School of Economics. She is a Dutch and American national.
